Join us for a start to the season of Lent, as we gather in prayer and quiet to receive the imposition of ashes. This day is the traditional beginning of the 40 days of Lent, time to prepare our hearts and minds to receive the good news of the resurrection at Easter.

Our 8:30 am Morning Prayer service on this day will conclude with the Litany for Penitence and the imposition of ashes. The full Ash Wednesday Liturgy with the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion will be offered at 5:00 pm.

Join us for our Annual Meeting, as we report on our ministries and work of 2025 and look to what’s coming in 2026. We will also elect new vestry members and review our 2026 operating budget. Lunch will be served! Come to the 10:00 service (no 8:00 that day) and stay for the meeting.

The Rev. Jim Estes was priest at St Francis - vicar and then rector - from 1985 to 2002. He died late last year and was buried in a private service. For those who would like the opportunity to share stories and pray in thanksgiving for Jim's life and ministry here, we will hold an informal memorial gathering in the church on Sunday, January 18, beginning at about 11:30. Please invite anyone you think might want to join.

Join us for the candlelit beauty of this holy night, as we celebrate the glory of Jesus’ Incarnation. On the Feast of the Nativity we remember the sweet old story, sing beloved carols, share the first communion of Christmas, and set our hearts again to receive Christ’s love in this broken world. Join us as we begin the season of Advent! On this day we begin our new year, preparing for the coming of the Light at Christmas. We light one candle each Sunday as we prepare our hearts and lives to make room for Christ’s love. Come for this holy season and celebrate with us!

Giving thanks for the abundance of God’s gifts, today we return our gratitude and pledge to the work and ministry of St Francis in the coming year. Today’s worship will be at one service, at 10:00 am only. Bring your pledge card to offer on the altar, and join in the harvest celebration following the 10:00 service.

This Sunday we celebrate the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls. We will remember our ancestors and loved ones as we renew our commitment and place in the communion of saints!

We’ll finish off our 50th Anniversary Celebration with worship and feasting on our patronal feast day. Honoring the 800th anniversary of St Francis himself and the 50th anniversary of our church, we’ll give thanks for our forebears and their hard work building up this church in Pauma Valley. Stay for a special 1970s-era lunch following the 10:00 service, with stories, video, music, and more!

Our beautiful adobe church was dedicated in 1975, 50 years ago. Come for this anniversary celebration as we welcome all friends and neighbors for food, fun, and hospitality! Explore the lovely grounds, learn about our history, and dream with us for our common future!

Burgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers and their fixings will be on offer. Bring something to share or just come and enjoy!

Bring your furry, feathered, or finned friend for a blessing at our annual pet blessing, honoring our patron saint, St. Francis. The service will be held outdoors and all animals are welcome. If your animal is not happy around other animals, you are welcome to bring a photo so we can bless your pet “from a distance”! Treats for pets and humans will be offered!

Our diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Susan Brown Snook, will be making her official visitation to St. Francis this September. Bishop Susan will be confirming and receiving members in the Episcopal Church. Come and celebrate this renewal of Christian commitment in our community, and welcome our Bishop.

Bishop Susan’s visit will kick off the week of our 50th Anniversary Celebration!
