Forty days ago after the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Candlemas marks the end of the Christmas season, and recognizes the day on which Jesus was presented in the Temple, when he was offered to the Father and shown to his people. His mother was purified. In their old age Simeon and Anna recognized him as their Lord.

On Sunday, October 27th the parish had a special coffee hour in honor of Father Rob Eaton and his wife, Susan. Fr. Rob has been our assigned Interim Rector. The vestry and search committee are winding down the calling process on a new priest and rector at our church. As a result our time with Fr. Rob is coming to a close. Our farewell coffee hour had the theme: Happy Trails to you. We feasted, laughed, and cried a bit too. We also had a group sing-a-long of the song, "Happy Trails to you." Blessings to Sue and Father Rob?

Thanksgiving Day SErvice
Parishioners brought items for the Food Distribution program to the Thanksgiving Service. Generosity was demonstrated and loads of canned goods, pasta, top ramen, and toiletries were donated. Our weekly distribution to the Valley Center location of Neighborhood Healthcare helps local families that are in need of food and care items.
Donations to Local Schools
Pauma Elementary, Valley Center primary Schoool, and Lilac Elementary
Each school site received numerous pairs of socks, underwear, long pants, and t-shirts. The items are to provide a change of clothing to the young students who are in need of dry, clean clothes at school. Each of the school principals wrote thank you notes. These notes are posted on the church bulletin board in the parish hall.

Photos from the Fond Farewell Celebration for Fr. Fred and Ann Thayer. The congregation moved outside to the Don Belcher Memorial Garden to present a bench which will be enjoyed by many in the garden. Other gifts were presented. After the service, a barbeque lunch with "all the fixins" was enjoyed by all.
